Bucket List Dreams- Miami Beach and South Beach

DSC_0491.jpg

Downtown Miami

The DNA of Miami is made up of iconic shorelines and skylines, quintessential Art Deco architecture, and elaborate history and culture. In Miami, you are in your own slice of paradise. Miami offers world-famous beaches, world-famous attractions, and a world-famous night-life. Miami is pure eye-candy showcasing aqua beaches, towering palm, and coconut trees, and bright sunshine beaming down that puts off that famous Miami heat.

DSC_0008.jpg

The Downtown Miami Historic District has a rich history. Some of my favorite explorations in Miami include Little Havana, Little Haiti, and the Art Deco Historic District. Miami offers incredible scenic views, glorious beaches for days and magnificent skylines.

DSC_0352

Miami’s Art Deco District includes 800 historic and retro buildings from the 1920s-1930s. The Miami Art Deco District in South Beach is the largest cumulation of historic Art deco buildings including hotels, theatres, museums, and clubs in the world. The architecture is stunning and timeless. Old Miami should certainly be appreciated.

I genuinely love learning about culture and customs. I enjoy visiting historical landmarks and markers, taking cultural tours, trying authentic cuisines, and wearing handmade native clothing and jewelry.

DSC_0359.jpg

One of the top highlights of my Miami trip was to see my first burlesque show. I attended the Fillmore theater for the Dita Von Teese Art of the Teese Burlesque Revue. Dita was very elegant and true to character. She fit perfectly at this theater with her Old Hollywood pin-up style. The show was phenomenal. We laughed, we were shocked, and we were all completely enthralled.

Some cons of the theater are that one small bottle of water costs six dollars. Another negative is that the seats are close together with no arm-rests which make for uncomfortable seating for two plus hours. The last drawback is self-parking is especially atrocious. Valet parking is 25 dollars, and the area surrounding the theater is packed. We rode street to street and came across a parking garage for only 1 dollar an hour! Theater tickets ran us around 200+, and then there’s amenities, food, drinks, and merch.

The production, the lights, the sound everything was spot on. As far as the theater goes, the theater itself is quite elegant. It’s classic Old Hollywood glam complete with red walls and hanging chandeliers. I’d come back here and watch another live show because I like the history of the theater and the elegance which transforms and heightens the entire experience!

Miami Beach

When you enter Miami, you realize it’s precisely how it looks in the all of the movies and television shows you’ve ever seen. There are massive white buildings, fancy yachts, and expensive cruise boats stretched out across the azure blue ocean.

I love looking for seashells, and I found a good amount of them. There is also beautiful seabirds floating overhead and walking along the banks. I am also always on the look-out for dolphins and other marine animals.

The beach waves can get pretty big, but they weren’t too terrible. There are lifeguards on duty which are always welcomed. I was a little taken aback some by parts of the beach that had the dirty water, seaweed and many rocks in the water as you wade through it.

The beach actually stays open until midnight and reopens at 5 a.m. Also, the beach is bustling and crowded, and parking is a challenge, but that’s to be expected. There is a walking trail that goes around the beach that is perfect for sightseeing. It is also elegant for jogging, running and biking. With such perfect weather and scenery, it’s easy to stay out all day exploring.

Miami Beach is perfect for both relaxation and lounging around. If you’re looking for water activities, there are plenty to choose from. There are many ways you can have fun in the sun with all of the water sports and recreations offered.

Miami Beach is perfect for sights and entertainment. There is a multitude of places to explore such as Little Havana, Little Haiti, Millionaire’s Row, Ocean Drive, Art Deco District and more.

Miami has blue-sky waters that beckon you to them, and magnificent sunsets in the evenings. And there is still much fun to have even after the sun goes down.

South Beach

DSC_0363

South Beach, Miami is party central. Ocean Drive is so “Miami.” It’s festive and fun, equal parts divey and glamorous, of course, iconic, and lifestyles of the rich and famous, all set against a beautiful backdrop of Miami Beach and South Beach. With their flashing neon lights, gorgeous Miami skyline, extravagant Millionaires Row and brilliant Art Deco, it’s no wonder why Miami is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world.

The pastel-colored architecture in the Art Deco District is tremendous. I love all of the geometrical shapes especially the round and cylinder shaped buildings. There are hundreds of elaborate old restored hotels and businesses in the area. Miami is home to the biggest collection of Art Deco buildings in the world. Miami is remarkable and finely detailed in every way.

We drove the strip down Ocean Drive, South Beach and also walked it. I love all of the Puerto Rican, Cuban, Reggae, Reggaeton, and Latin soul music blaring for days. You’ll definitely feel some salsa coming on.

Ocean Drive has many restaurants and live entertainment venues.  When walking the strip, you’ll see hundreds of open-air restaurants, hookah bars, lounges, and nightclubs. The strip highlight fast cars, tight bodies, and loud music. There are so many people in Miami! You’ll see loads of people decked out in rich threads with blinging jewelry, riding in flashy sport and luxury cars, bikes and trikes, hoverboards and more.

Miami is a vibrant city combining art, food, culture and the great outdoors. Miami is made up of perfect shorelines, tanned bodies, island jams, ocean-front dining, a vibrant nightlife, tropical vibes and so much more!

There are many storefronts, food trucks and pop-ups offering beach merch, souvenirs, and beachside eats and treats. I am all for snowballs and ice cream on a perfectly hot and humid day.

There are beach chairs and umbrellas that beachgoers can rent out. Personally, I am always looking for the shade of the palm trees as I lay on the beach relaxing and listening to the mesmerizing ocean breeze.

There are some rental shops for outdoor recreation and water sports. Fort Lauderdale is made for exploring with twenty miles of immaculate shoreline for vacationers to enjoy and fall in love with!

Palm Beach and West Palm Beach

Florida’s Atlantic Coast–
Palm Beach and West Palm Beach

DSC_0584.jpg

Palm Beach

The city of Palm beach is beyond beautiful. Many of the shopping districts and suburb neighborhoods are ritzy and glitzy.  There is an abundance of upscale shops, elite boutiques, and fine dining restaurants situated along the renowned Worth Ave. The high-end European-style district, Worth Avenue, is one of Americas finest streets.

The neighborhoods in Palm Beach are quite special. They feature gorgeous, massive houses complete with immaculate, well-manicured lawns. There are a large amount of expensive and impressive vessels and yachts.

The Clock Tower is located on Ocean Blvd and Worth Ave. This beautiful and timeless landmark sits right alongside the stunning Palm Beach and Atlantic Ocean. You’ll likely want to photograph the Clock Tower because it is quite enchanting.

Palm Beach Municipal Beach is a gorgeous beach located on Ocean Blvd. They have massive rocks here which are set against the bluest of blue waters. They do have lifeguards on duty which is always a plus. I was able to find a lot of pretty seashells to add to my seashell collection from all the beaches I have gone to.

Palm Beach is aesthetically pleasing in all aspects. It is certainly one of the most beautiful beaches I have visited across Florida’s Atlantic Coast. The tropical landscapes are nothing short of stunning. The Palm Beach area in itself is really a magnificant sight.

DSC_0575.jpg

West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach neighbors Palm Beach by connecting bridges. West Palm Beach is located on Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway. Surprisingly, there is no beach here. West Palm Beach is known for its bustling nightlife, live entertainment, and vibrant art districts. West Palm Beach offers several very popular areas.

Clematis Street is one of the most popular parts of the city known for its character and liveliness. Clematis Street features amazing outdoor art, colorful cafes, boutique shopping and so much more.

CityPlace is large outdoor shopping and entertainment center offering visitors the ease of an all-inclusive experience. CityPlace features a remarkable European architectural design which undoubtedly elevates the atmosphere. CityPlace features dining and shopping, trendy condos and apartments, and loads of entertainment.

Antique Row and Design District is a very charming and tasteful district known for its fine art and exclusive antiques. Antique Rowe features an abundance of vintage and retro art, home furnishings, and antique shops.

DSC_0601.jpg

The Palm Beaches feature stunning resort-style beach towns, a multitude of daytime excursions and nighttime adventures, and miles of tranquil blue oceanfront waters.  The Palm Beaches are one of my favorite beautiful destinations to visit. All you have to do is just follow all of the palm trees lined up to find your way back.

Delray Beach: Village by the Sea

Discover and Explore: South Florida’s Beaches

Florida’s Village By The Sea: Delray Beach

DSC_0533

South Florida, or SoFlo, is home to some of the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the world. South Florida offers picturesque landscapes encompassing bright blue glistening waters, soft powder-white sands and towering palm trees swaying in the wind.

I really love my little seaside village, Delray. Delray has one of the best beaches that South Florida has to offer. Delray will always hold a part of my heart as it was once home to me, so in essence, I will always hold it dear. When I lived here I enjoyed the simplicity and convenience of just being able to walk pretty much anywhere- including to grab lunch, coffee meet-ups or walks to the beach.

The parking to get to the beach can be a little challenging so just be on the lookout for an open meter. The number of people wasn’t overwhelming and we were able to easily claim our own little area to spread our beach gear out. They had a good mix of people at the beach including sweet couples, friends, and families.

There are some crustaceans, and shells so keep your eyes open for these beauties of the sea. Note, there was some seaweed that washed up on the shore, but that wasn’t a deal-breaker. The water temp was nice – just cool enough to be refreshing and just warm enough to be relaxing.

DSC_0526.jpgDSC_0524DSC_0529.jpgDSC_0522.jpgDSC_0561B.jpgDSC_0535.jpgDSC_0560.jpg

Downtown Delray

Atlantic Avenue is the go-to place for food and fun in Delray. The charming Atlantic Ave. is walking distance to the lovely Delray Beach which is widely known for its translucent turquoise waters and sugar soft sand. Atlantic Avenue has glorious preserved buildings and storefronts. The streetscape is certainly charming all lined up with these irresistible little sidewalk cafes and shops.

There is a multitude of boutique shops and restaurants which makes this a very popular area for locals and tourists alike. Downtown Delray is perfect for bites and sips. I appreciate that most days the area is not as cramped or overpopulated like some other areas in the SoFlo area.

I really love the views of Atlantic Avenue which stretches straight to the gorgeous Delray Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The location is superb because it’s walking distance to both downtown and the beach.

Delray is a true gem to south Floria. I will always love the little seaside village of Delray. And all I have to do is just follow all of the palm trees to find my way back.

Beautiful Daytona Beach

Bucket List Dreams and Road Trip Adventures-

Daytona Beach

I have always loved eclectic beach towns filled with festive amusements, natural beauty, and endless wonder. Daytona Beach is well-known for its unique beach driving experience. Daytona also has a nostalgic carnival style boardwalk that’s fun for the whole family. And, of course, Daytona is home to the famed Daytona International Speedway.

DSC_0094.jpg

Boardwalk

The Daytona Boardwalk Amusement Park consists of Joyland Amusement Park, Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Main Street Pier. The Daytona Boardwalk Amusement Park is the best place to visit in Daytona for entertainment and attractions. The atmosphere is more reminiscent of a fair or carnival than a full-scale amusement park, yet it’s still pretty amusing all the same.

The Joyland Amusement Park has your staple fair foods, games, and a few rides. There is also a beautiful pastel colored Ferris wheel, a roller coaster, a slingshot! You may purchase tickets for the rides and hit up the Joyland Arcade and Mardi Gras Fun Center.

The Daytona Beach Boardwalk is beyond perfect if you want to have a carnival-style night out complete with carnival food, carnival games, and carnival rides! You can channel your inner child and enjoy the wonderous amusements set before you.

Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Joyland Amusement Park are lively when the sun goes down. The sweet-smelling candy night air is reminiscent of a joyous childhood. There are fun fair foods including pizza, ice cream, and cotton candy. The boardwalk has a really cool candy shop where you can see freshly spun taffy being made.

Some of the attractions or facilities are a tad run down, and there is some panhandling in the area like many other major tourist cities. Overall, I enjoyed celebrating in all of the festivities on the boardwalk and visiting the amusement park on site as well!

DSC_0095-2.jpg

DSC_0078.jpg

Beach

Daytona Beach is a nice, clean, family beach. There are many shops and restaurants in the area. The beach parking is twenty dollars, but we parked in a paid lot for ten. This beach is popular so there are definitely a lot of people out and about.

In Daytona Beach, beachgoers may drive their vehicles on the beach and park up next to the shore. Interestingly, this was the first beach that I’ve been where this is permitted because it is quite rare. The sand is packed hard and so this also was a new experience for me.

One thing I noticed is that there are pretty much no seashells at the beach. I only found just a couple and they were very small. I love collecting sand and seashells from all of the beaches I have visited! In this way, I will always have a little piece of the ocean with me.

Daytona Beach is quite beautiful. I love the smell of salty water blowing in the wind. The water was really cold which surprised me because it was such a hot Florida day.

Speedway

When anyone thinks of Daytona, they likely automatically think of the Daytona International Speedway. While I’m not big on sports I certainly wanted to see the speedway for myself. There are multiple Daytona Beach and Nascar merch stores around the city so you can pick up a souvenir to remember your sweet Daytona vacation!

Bucket List Dreams- Jacksonville Beach

Explore: Jacksonville, FL

Florida is renowned for its gorgeous topography and immaculate seashores. The natural beauty of the vast Atlantic Ocean is unparalleled. The beaches in Jacksonville certainly speaks to this testament. Jacksonville offers three beautiful primary beaches: Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Neptune Beach.

Admittedly, I am always beckoned to the water. I am home when I am by the ocean; I definitely have a Pisces heart. I love questing for beauty across all of the North and South Florida beaches.

Downtown Jacksonville

Downtown Jacksonville is an interesting and beautiful place to visit. Jacksonville is a mecca for glorious old architecture. The downtown skyscrapers and national historical sites are reminiscent of times past.

Additionally, many of these esteemed buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The famous structures and landmarks in downtown Jacksonville are architectural marvels. The Jacksonville bridges are also a spectacle. They are colorful and captivating in their own right.

Downtown Jacksonville is also celebrated for its art scene and streetscapes.  There are many intriguing pieces down alleyways and on the sides of old buildings.

I am always questing for art which is aesthetically pleasing. I love studying pieces that have been created with intricate detail varied juxtaposition. I continually search out immersive art because I am drawn to understanding the artists’ story or muse.

DSC_0154.jpg

The Jacksonville Landing

The Jacksonville Landing was on my to-see to-do list when visiting the Jacksonville area. The Jacksonville Landing lies along the St. Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville. The scenery of the Riverwalk, St. Johns River and Main Street Bridge are dazzling.

The Jacksonville Landing is both a shopping outlet and indoor mall. The landing is quite perfect for a day visit or evening out. There are various dining, shopping, and attractions.

DSC_0179.jpg

DSC_0186B.jpg

Jacksonville Beach

Jacksonville Beach is great for outdoor water sports adventuring days or relaxing days soaking up the sun lounging on the warm white sand. There is along the shore and many stores for beach shopping. Jacksonville Beach is nice and clean; my family and I had great fun walking along the shore and splashing in sparkling waters at the beach. I did notice they had a number of ants so watch those precious toes of yours.

img_8835

Atlantic Beach

Atlantic Beach is a stunning beach complete with a boardwalk. It appears that Jacksonville, Neptune, and Atlantic Beach all seem to run into one another and share boardwalks. I personally like the all-inclusive aspect of having waterfront dining, shopping along the beach for convenience purposes.

The sand here is sugary white and the water was kind of cool to the touch. Atlantic Beach is a waking dream. I found a ton of gorgeous white fossilized seashells. I also hunted for colorful seashells which are rarer. Some of the seashells had living organisms in them and others were fossils. The shells at Atlantic beach are so perfect that I entertained the idea that some of those shells had to be bought and delicately placed right there on the beach.

DSC_0016.jpg

DSC_0007.jpg

DSC_0010.jpg

img_8836

Neptune Beach

Neptune Beach is absolutely stunning. Neptune Beach is reminiscent of an island oasis. The sand is soft and powder white and the water was cool, but not freezing. The Neptune Beach area includes more shops and restaurants. I definitely can appreciate this factor especially when you’re looking for an all-inclusive style experience. Also, if you’re into photography this beach photographs like a dream.

DSC_0045

DSC_0034.jpg

Starbucks Neptune Beach

I always swing by Starbucks for iced teas and coffees in between beach hopping. This is the first Starbucks location I’ve been to where you can order outside from a walk-up window. I love this factor especially since we were all sandy and wet from the beach. The patio furniture had ample and plush outdoor seating large enough for multiple small groups.

My party and I ordered the Pink Drinks in addition to Java Chip frappuccinos. Did I mention the walk-up window because I can certainly dig that? Happy sipping, folks!

img_8837

Florida is truly a sanctuary to many walks of life. The central theme is to co-exist as one with nature, humans, animals and all marine life. Remember, leave only your footprints!

I certainly believe Jacksonville is worth your visit. And I look forward to returning to further explore this interesting and beautiful city. Until next time!

And my bucket list dreams just keep coming true!
